We have a large uphill slope in our backyard. There is a 5 ft retaining wall “holding up” the hill. The hill is about 30×100 feet. We thought it would be an interesting idea to dig up a section of the hill, maybe 10×20, and install an inground swimming pool. Of course we would then have to install a new retaining wall behind the pool, maybe 10 feet high.
Is this something that’s possible? Anyone have any experience trying to install a pool in a hill? Any ballpark estimate of cost?
Thanks for the advice.

Not only is it possible, it has been done before. If you throw enough money at any problem, it goes away. You just need a good engineer, some heavy equipment, lots of concrete, don’t forget those union workers, and you’ll be done in no time. Or six months later.
I would not disturb the hill…it would take alot of work to do that…and you would have trouble with the hill slipping…try above ground pool…..
