Swimming pool is blue but smells like a pond what chemicals do you use to fix it?

I am currently using Chlorine tablets and have measured this and acidity and it all checks out okay – although the pH level is low – so I am adding some increaser . What do I do or is it just the pH level that is creating the smell?

This takes me back a few years. I had a pool in Dallas, and everything was good with Chlorine alone. I quit checking it, because as long as I tablets in the water, and I wasn’t overpowered with chlorine smell, it was great.

However, you are supposed to add Muratic acid to maintain the Ph. I never had a “pond smell”, but the acid has to be the cure.

i own a pool company DO NOT add murtaic acid as that will only lower ph.add soda ash to increase ph add one pound wait 24 hours.if not high enough add another pound wait 24 hours chlorine should be 3.0 and ph should be 7.2 to7.8 on test kit day three add water clairifier to clear cloudy blue water.be sure to clean filter
